Lest we forget

So, tomorrow, June 16, marks the day Soweto students stood up against the bullshit of being forced to study in the language of their oppressor. Many years later, many people are still made to feel small and unclean when expressing themselves in their mother tongues, yet when Italians, Chinese and many other nations mispronounce English words, it is understood that this is not their first language.

What's sad is that when White South Africans mispronounce our names, we understand that ours is not their first language. So, mad respect to all those who express themselves in their mother tongues. To all writers who write in their own languages, I salute you. Language is everything!
